Artefact 2 – Evaluation

I posted a discussion on a dedicated sports forum. I felt the overall design was rushed and lacked focus. This is because of 3 discussions areas I posted. Posting three subject areas made people chose 1 or the other and gave me limited responses. People felt they could choose which subject area to answer and didn’t fully complete the discussions fully. I felt the subject areas were linked but having three seem like I didn’t know what I wanted to find out. Furthermore it did not allow me to gain concise and relevant answers to those subject areas. People who responded gave a general overview to the areas and summarised them into one. Which was not the intention.

If I were to the experiment again or change anything I would post one discussion that was focused and had a clear direction to what I was asking from the audience.

I was happy with the forum I chose to post on because it was a dedicated sports forum were people knew about different sports rules and different types of sports, which made the audience cleaver enough to understand what I was talking about. This made me not have to explain background information as they knew that already like the rule of offside which features in both videos. I feel that posting the discussion on both Soccer and American football subject area gave me an audience response that were broad and gave me a good sample from both areas of interest.

I felt the artefact played it safe as the previous artefact had already given me a target audience which I pursued in this artefact. This was a good point about the experiment. Targeting the audience I wanted was the difference that made this artefact work for me. I feel that the artefact was done in a comfort zone of what I know and what I wanted to find out. I fell that in future artefacts I have to think outside the box and show this audience who are knowledgeable enough something new that makes them think .

The view of the audience on the artefact were vague and generalised and showed a lack of background knowledge on my part about posting discussions online. In the future have a concise and directed discussion. Not to have vague subject areas .

I felt overall the artefact worked because though people didn’t answer each discussion there was a large enough amount of people in the audience that answered and from their reposes could gain insight into the three individually areas.
